Remember Preview Window Size

Does anyone know how to get Preview to remember window sizes? For some reason, whenever I open a PDF, Preview opens it with a 1" or so space between the bottom of the PDF and the bottom edge of the screen. I would prefer that it go all the way from the menu bar down to the bottom of the screen. I do not want full screen view.

I'm using it on my Retina MacBook.
