So this started happening when updated from 10.6.x to 10.8.x. It seems to happen randomly. When I open a folder as a new window, it comes up as it's default size and position. I would then move the window to a spot convenient for me, and resize it to my needs. I close the window, command click the folder again, and the folder opens up in a new window in the same position and size I had just made it. I could do this several times one after the other, and it will open in the position and size I expect it to.
But, and this is the random part, when after I put my Mac to sleep or restart it, and I attempt to command click that folder again, the window is no longer in the position and size I had left it in. Instead a new window will open from the folder, in front of the window the folder is in, at the size of that folder. I would then repeat my steps above. And again, it would open as I had customized it to. Until I put my Mac to sleep or restart it again. Another quirk, when using the delete button, when holding it down, it moves so slow to each character it's deleting. Back in 10.6.x, you hold it down, it would be slow for the first few characters, then speed up across the rest until you let go of the delete button.
Anyone know how to fix this without having to reinstall the OS from scratch...again. And without updating to the "latest and greatest".
There are other quirks that came with 10.8.x, that never existed in 10.6.x for me. And no, I'm not interested in updating to the latest OS X. At least not at the time being. Other than these quirks, I've gotten 10.8.x to work relatively stress free for me. This is the thing that is killing me with Apple since the passing of Jobs. Everything used to work flawlessly. Ok, maybe not flawless, but pretty close. Now everything I expect my Mac to do, because it's always done it. Just doesn't want to do it anymore, or you CAN'T do it anymore because Apple got rid of the feature. There are workarounds. Like third party apps. Really? lol Mac OS X used to be user friendly, now it's just a little better than Windows. But instead of the few steps you do (or used to do) on Mac OS, you are now doing several steps to do the same thing. Just like in Windows. It's like Apple made Mac OS X dumber and slower.
