[reminder] JB 3GS + SSH SOCKS Proxy = poor man's tethering

Hi, I just tried this very old (well-known) technique to enable my laptop's internet browsing through JB iPhone 3GS (3.1.3),

and it still works! If you just want free tethering option with iPhone 3GS 3.1.3, this may be a simplest solution.

What I have: iPhone 3GS, 3.1.3, Spirit JB
after JB, you need to install openssh from Cydia to use socks proxy.

A laptop, I have tested it on my MBP, Mac OS X 10.6.3.

I did not try windows laptop, but above lifehacker web page has a link for windows, and firefox; so I think it should work on windows, as well.
