Reminders App Not Opening

Hey guys,
I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and after the first week the reminders app stopped opening whenever I open it. The icon gets the light underneath it but no window shows. And when I click " Show all windows" it just shows my desktop with nothing over it. Anyone know how to fix this? Is this a problem with OS Mavericks?
