Anyone else in the same boat...?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)
OS X Yosemite 10.10.3
2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB

Same, no joy.

Ok, I'm got the exact same thing. No solution yet. McAfee is running, one iCloud account and no other account. Tried removing address book items from user library. Messages works in admin account, not in user account. Tried repair permissions. Logged out iCloud same result.

....I just posted with similar problem...I think...

Hi....I just joined and posted and then found your thread. I just updated iTunes 12.1.2 a few days back. Since then, each time I try to open Messages, it takes maybe 5 mins to start and if I try to do anything, I get the spinning wheel of death. I'm wondering if I can drag Messages to trash...and if so, how do I re-install? Am a beginner!

The only fix I have read about so far that has worked for some is to make sure that date and time and time zone are set to automatic in the Date & Time System Preference. After that i have been stumped. Could be the new iTunes update that caused the issue and not 10.10.3 since it came right after, but haven't found much in any forums about that. Something just seems to be blocking iMessage/Facetime from the login server, so it is hanging (but repeatedly trying per console).

MESSAGES hanging and spinning wheel...

Hi...have sorted it! It was MacAfee conflict even tho it had been on for 12 months. I uninstalled MacAfee and now everything is fine! ;).
Not my idea...member recommended on Apple Support Forum.
