Hi, i've tried searching for this answer to no avail. There seems to be a few threads like this but no definitive answers and they are quite old so hopefully someone has figured this out now.
I have a western digital 1TB world edition drive attached via ethernet to my router and would like to be able to access it remotely to stream the media off it wherever i am. WD has software called MioNet for this but it only works on a pc. Does anyone know of a way to access this drive remotely without using a pc or WD's workaround of browser based access? I assume if it's possible on windows then the protocol is there so it can be done?
I've also read some places about hacking the firmware to allow this - http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/ - so would consider this but this site seems quite daunting at first so has anyone done this and have more simplified or obvious instructions and has it worked?
Actually this seems to be the site - http://highlevelbits.free.fr/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=75&Itemid=67&lang=en - but again, has anyone done this to confirm it? My drive is the white light, not the blue ring.
Thanks,
