Remote App - Streaming video to iPhone 4?

I have a 1st gen. AppleTV and was very disappointed to find that I can only stream video to the 2nd gen. Now, is there any way to stream content to my iPhone 4? There doesn't appear to be, but maybe there's something I'm missing? I don't understand why you can't. Apple's whole excuse for not having video stream to the 1st gen. AppleTV is that it's not iOS based, but the iPhone 4 obviously is, so it seems it should be able to do this.
