Anyone have an inexpensive Remote Home Automation App and Controller they can recommend? Basically need to log in remotely for an elderly family member and control Cable TV, maybe a light or two. Mainly the TV though. Any ideas would be appreciated. Have looked at some, but they are full fledged systems. Controlling remotely fom iPad or iPhone would be great.

Comcast has an app named after their "Xfinity" branding. (if that is what cable service you have.)

It will let you change the channel, record shows etc from the app.

I use it all the time when I am on break at work to mess with my wife and son, haha.

Bossman - thanks for the idea. I have Time Warner cable, so went and downloaded their App and it has a Channel Guide on it. Which allows you to select a show and then it has a Watch Now button.

But the Watch now button doesn't do anything. I can watch on the iPad, and it shows a TV icon but no luck in getting it to change channels from the iPad?

I have the TW enhanced service too.
