Has anyone encountered an issue with the remote whereby when your watching a film a popup appears in the top right hand corner of the screen saying remote connection lost.

it always seems to be one hour after using the remote that it will pop up.

then when you use it again to stop the end of the film it pops up again saying remote connected.

i have looked in the settings but can’t find what is causing it.

Apple tv 4k.

Any ideas please.

Yes, this have started happening for me too. It seems more random on my Apple TV 4 (not 4K), but I haven’t timed it. It began with one of the last updates to tvOS, before this update it never happened regularly.

I hope it’s a software bug that can be fixed. It’s quite annoying multiple times a day, especially since it have worked for years without any disconnects.

It isn't random or accidental. It is a design feature. My guess is it is intended to save battery life in the remote. The remote goes into "sleep" mode to reduce battery current draw. Pressing the Menu button (or perhaps any button?) wakes it up again.

I've noticed this when watching a long show without any key presses on the remote for an hour. Always wakes up without any issue for me.

You are 100% correct, it is a feature.

How else would we get months, and months (I get 6 months on both my ATV4 and 4K remotes) out of one charge on our remotes?

I’m experiencing something similar, but with a recent tvOS update, the “sleep” disconnections began happening more frequently and randomly.
Sometimes an hour like before, but sometimes after 30 minutes, or even a few minutes without pressing anything caused a disconnect.
Any ideas except erase and reinstall?
