I apologise if this question has been answered many times before - I could not seem to find an exact answer.

I've just setup an AirPort Express with AirTunes music streaming from my Mac. Using the Remote app on my iPhone I can control music playback to my APX.

My issue is that when I send a stream to the APX from another Mac in the house, this interrupts any playback on that Mac.

Is it possibly to set this up to stream from a Shared Library available in iTunes on my Mac, so to not disturb regular playback? This works fine when I stream from one Mac to another using the Shared Library feature.

Am I missing something, or is this just not possible?

play from the music app on the phone, using the shared library

remote actually controls itunes, so it will take over whatever is playing.

Thanks. That makes sense.

Would this stream from the PC/Mac to the iOS device, then from there stream to the AirPort Express OR stream direct from PC/Mac to AirPort Express?

Just thinking that I'll be using the iPhone outside to control, where my Wi-Fi connection is not great.
