I have a Mac Mini that is part of a home automation system I had installed. The installer can remotely control this Mac Mini from his Apple laptop. I got a second Mac Mini and would like to remotely control the first one. I tried screen sharing and logging on with the home automation Mac Mini user ID and password, but I just get a black window. I thought this was how the installer did it. Is there some other tool to do this? I'm a Mac newbie.

Thanks,
Curt

Did you try hitting the keyboard or moving the mouse for a few seconds? It might have "powered off" the display and shut off the graphics card in the energy settings.

I banged around on the keyboard and finally got widgets to come up. I think there's a special configuration on the home automation mac that keeps it from behaving normally.
