I'm looking for a software that will allow me to do remote tech support and push software updates or at least let other user's know that the update is available.

I will mainly use this to ensure that my family have the latest software updates, for mac and iOS devices, backups are up to date.

Should I be looking into Apple remote desktop or can I do this from settings within snow leopard? I want the software to be compatible with snow leopard and Lion. Ideally I would like to be able to do the same tasks with windows computers from my MBP.

Apple's remote desktop will allow you to control other Macs and push software updates.

You'll need to open up some port forwarding on your router if they're not on the same network.

gotomypc, logmein, teamviewer also support remote control but are limited in what you can do to install updates, i.e., no pushing updates.

Thanks for the reply would this work for computers outside my network?
