I'm trying to setup microsoft's RDC so that I can connect to my work PC from my home MBP. I had an IT technician at my office for four hours the other day while I stayed at home and tried to connect but we couldn't make it work. So I figured I'd see if someone from the macrumors community might have the answer, or at least point us in the right direction.
On my work PC I'm running a cisco VPN client to connect to a data gathering company that we use. I'm only actually on the VPN client for about five minutes a day. At all other times the VPN is unlocked. We obviously tried to establish the remote connection between my mac and the work pc while the VPN was unlocked. Still, the IT technician speculated that this might be part of the problem.
When he disabled the VPN, he was able to see my work pc from another computer on the work network, but we still couldn't connect establish a remote connection. When the VPN is enabled (but unlocked), he couldn't even see my work PC from within the work network.
Anyhow, if anyone has any clues it would be much appreciated. Or if I can supply any other info please let me know.
thanks!
