Remote Desktop?

I just ordered my new Imac (24", 2.8, 2G, 500G-hd) and I want to know if there is any program that is similar to LogMeIn for Windows?

I basically need a program that will allow me to connect to my own computer from anywhere with an internet connection (Mac to a Mac) without having to have someone on the other side having to accept my connection. I would like to connect to my iMac from my school's MacPro's without having to call home to tell them to accept my incoming connection.

I have heard of "Apple Remote Desktop" but Im not sure if it can be used as a Remote Desktop or just used for Remote Assistance...

I'm not sure of any web based utilities but you could use OSXVNC ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/osxvnc/ ) to start a vnc server on your home MAC and then use Chicken of the VNC ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/cotvnc/ ) remotely to connect. IIRC Chicken can be run standalone without installing so you can carry it around with you on a usb drive.

Actually, LogMeIn is available for Mac as well. I've used it to do things on my MBP from work.

That it does. For connecting from a Windows machine I'd recommend TightVNC.
