Going from an iMac to a Macbook and my iTunes library needs to live elsewhere. Can iTunes point to an NAS? Or am I better of getting a MacMini and using iTunes Home Sharing?
iTunes can point to a NAS. Mine points to a Synology DS412+ and it works well.
The only problem is that it takes sometimes up to a minute to start playing, if the Synology is asleep. I'm used to this and don't mind it. If the Synology is awake because it's been doing other things, there's no lag.
It can point to a NAS box (which is what I have it doing with a Mac Mini head), but keep in mind if you are going to be taking your MB with you out of the house, you will most likely have to re-connect it every time to the NAS before you fire up iTunes, or you will get an error relating to your iTunes library.
