Pressing Menu button a few times will wake up Apple TV

To turn it on pressing menu works for me but to turn it off I have no idea

Does using the remote on the iPhone work? I know the first time you use the AppleTV remote on the iPhone you need to enter a four digit authorization code. Maybe the watch gets is authorization from the iPhone?

the watch app does get an Authorization but there are no boxes to install it . I didn't think of the iPhone I forgot it's linked to that, and the instructions on the watch didn't mention the phone I'll try it now cos that could be the answer

no, it works as the remote on the Apple TV but the one thing its got that the watch hasnt got is the icon to switch it off and on

I think I have it why it turns on for you and not for me. I have the tv to come on at the same time by just pressing the remote instead of me having to use a separate remote for my Samsung tv and when the two Apple TV and Samsung were off I tried it again and the Apple TV. came on but not the Samsung.
