Newer black siri remote. It just stopped working suddenly. I used my phone to go into the Apple TV menu and it says the remote isn't connected. I figured it might be dead so plugged it in but that seems to be doing nothing. The remote won't work at all EXCEPT it WILL restart the Apple TV if I hold the menu and TV buttons for awhile!? What is going on?

You may have already tried this, but have you tried holding the Menu and Volume Up buttons together for about 5 seconds to get the remote into pairing mode? I have done this once before and got it to pair. Sorry if you have already done this.

It won't pair to either of my Apple TVs. My other remote will pair to both. I guess the bluetooth is just shot on the remote.

just curious, is it the one with or without the white ring? for me it seems with ring has more problems than without.

if the aTV is still under warranty, you should be able to swap out the remote. (or if any of your atvs are under warranty, even if it's not the one the problem remote came with) just make a genius appointment.

without the white ring. I'm not sure how old they are, one MIGHT be under warranty but I doubt it. I'll check though. Otherwise I'm just going to use my phone and watch from now on - I refuse to spend $60 just for a new remote.
