I support a MacBook user connected to our network via WiFi. Sometimes I need to access the MacBook remotely without observe/control of the user's session--simply need to connect as an administrative user to perform a task or so and disconnect, without disturbing the user.
I use Remotix for supporting Macs this way, and over Ethernet, it works beautifully. This is the first time I'm supporting a Mac user where their primary/only connection is WiFi. So far it isn't working so well. When I try to connect via "with Mac OS X Login"
It appears administrative authentication is successful, but eventually the connection attempt times out. After this, I can no longer ping the MacBook and the user loses network connectivity. Interestingly, from the user's perspective, their WiFi connection appears good, but if they try to access network (or Internet) resources (even a simple ping of our default gateway), they are unable to. Turning off WiFi and back on resolves the problem for the user's WiFi connection.
I think when I try to connect "with Mac OS X Login", it may be trying to connect/authenticate to WiFi from the administrative side... Any ideas how to make my remote login session piggy back over the user's WiFi connection instead?
Thank you!
