protected? can't you just put in your password, and away it goes? also, if you want to reclaim some more drive space, remove the Apple Loops folder (in HD>Library>Audio), and the garageband folder in HD>Library>Application Support.

Just click "About this mac" under the apple icon, click on "Storage", then click "Manage", then click "Music Creation", and finally click "Remove Garageband sound library"
