I have been researching how to remove apps permanently from my hard drive and iTunes. I've followed all of the instructions and can't seem to remove them. I'd also liked them removed from iTunes so I don't have to look at a list of 300 apps every time I want to edit my app list.
I'm running Yosemite 10.10.2 and iTunes 12.1.0.50.
Let's say I have an App I want to remove. It is already removed from my iPhone and I want it removed from my hard drive. I'm trying to free up some hard drive space by getting rid of old junk.
I go into iTunes, into my App listing via the left pane. My list of apps appears. As an example, one app I want to remove is listed, with its info and a button that I can click that says "install" if I wanted to re-install it. But, I can do nothing with it except install it. If I click "delete" it does nothing. If I go into "Edit" the "delete" option is grayed and unavailable. I cannot drag it to the Trash.
I've also gone through a finder winder to my "Mobile Applications" Folder. I've deleted the offending app, emptied the trash, closed iTunes and reopened, and it is still there in my list of apps.
I'm guessing it is now removed from my hard drive (which accomplishes getting my space back)? Is that correct?
But it is still showing up in iTunes because it is in the cloud somewhere? How can I get this off my list so I never see it or the icon again when I open iTunes?
Also, is there a way I can remove the apps from my hard drive permanently through iTunes? It would be easier to do this way than going through a list of sometimes ambiguous file names. Again, no logical option seems to exist...delete doesn't work, Edit>delete doesn't work, and dragging to trash doesn't work.
TIA!
