Remove Date Added column

Whenever I do Save As in applications, I am seeing a "Date Added" column that is crowding things, and of no use to me.

How can I eliminate this column?

With the Save dialog open and in List view, control-click on the column headers. You should get a context menu with the visible column headers checked; de-select the Date Added column.

Strange, I tried that before and it didn't work.
