remove deleted photos form camera roll on ipad

I used my iPad to view photos downloaded from a DSLR. I've erased all the photos. The camera roll is empty but in USAGE I'm still using +30 GB of memory for photos that aren't there or are they. iCloud is off, photostream is off etc etc still have lots of room on my iPad but how do i get this memory space back??
