Can I safely remove the Desktop DB and Desktop DF files which are present on some of my external hard drives? From what I've read they're files belonging to the pre-OSX era, containing file-ownership/creator info.
I don't know how they got there in the first place (I've never used those drives with a pre-OSX system, but come to think of it I vaguely seem to recall some sort of "MacOS 8/9 compatibility" in OSX 10.4 or 10.5. Not sure...
Anyway, do these files have any meaning now, or can I safely delete them without risking data loss or other problems. I'm on OSX 10.6.8.
