Universal Remove Facetime Contacts

I use Facetime with a couple family members only on an iPhone Xs and Ipad both IOS 12. Recently, I noticed my FT app lists almost all my contacts and phone numbers called. I have no idea how the app became populated in this manner as I do not use FT favorites. Obviously, I don't want all these entries in the app. I tried to delete them and they returned. Googling a remedy did not produce accurate results.
