I have a application called "Graphicconverter" and it associates .esm files with it. I dont want it to do that. i want it to associate it with text edit. I changed that easily but the icon is still that icon even after clearing icon cache and rebooting. I have this preference pane called "RCDefaultapp" but it won't let me clear a file association since its just greyed out. I want to remove the application from open with.

Icons don't always change instantaneously. I find that closing the window and then reopening the folder window will often speed the process along.

If I were you I would simply uninstall Graphicconverter and make sure on "get info" on one of the files to say "change all" to textedit or whatever and the icon should change to the correct one.
