Hi guys,

I use a firmware password with my MBP and have an upcoming display repair at an
Apple Store next week. The Apple Store genius asked me to remove the password
when I bring it in because otherwise they can't run diagnostics afterwards.

How's your experience? Would you remove it?

Cheers, Dan

You'll need to either remove it or give them the password so they can remove it to do what they need to do with the computer.

The apple store boots the machine using their internal network. A firmware password will prevent the MacBook from booting via anything other than the internal drive.

I recommend removing the password until Apple no longer needs it.
