Remove grey/transparent bar at top of window and dock.

So, at the top of the screen theres just the font. And at the bottom theres no "shelf" type thing for the icons to sit on, theyre just there.

I believe you can change the opacity of the menu bar, through some preference. However, I am unable to find where the menu bar transparency setting is stored. As for the Dock, that I don't know about.

There is little app for "no background" dock , but AFAIR it not works with 10.5 and above: http://osxdaily.com/2007/04/12/cleardock-change-the-docks-background/. I'm using it with Tiger now.
About menu bar, i don't know how to make it "no background". Maybe try to look at shapeshifter site: http://interfacelift.com/themes-mac/
