Is there anyway I can remove an application icon from the dock, even when the app is open? This particular app has an icon on the menu bar and I don't need it to be on both.

The icons of open apps will just bounce back. I would like to know the answer to this question too.
This one doesn't have that option, I've checked. I suggested it to the developers though...
Hey, I suggest DockDodger.
Simply download and unzip it. Open it, and it will tell you to drag whatever app you don't want to show up on your dock, into the DockDodger window. Enter your password. Quit the app you chose (if it's open), and open it again.
The Dock icon should be gone.
