So, I've read that removing the iPhone from a case before charging helps lengthen the battery life by keeping the unit heat down.

However, I've noticed that as I charge my phone each night and remove my (silicone) case, it seems to be getting stretched out further and further so much that the case is now a little loose. Any solutions?

submerge it in ice while charging ;)

jk. just leave the case on, try to put the phone somewhere with circulation, and maybe even put it face down on the table so the heat can escape. I wouldnt imagine the silicone would keep in much heat.

which one do you have? It's gonna happen over time... Maybe if u leave it on while you charge, the heat from the phone will mold it back to shapehahha...

Other than that, I'd say you're stuck with buying another one...

If you've had the phone for only a couple weeks... And the skin warps already, go with a different brand...

My silicone case is already pretty ragged out.

I think there's really no solution around this unless you have a two piece or a hard case.

Also I think the fact that the phone gets so hot adds to the wearing out of the silicone cases.

Are you kidding? Those things don't let heat out at all.

To the OP, when I have my silicone case on and charge it at night, I lay it right on the AC vent, which is conveniently right next to my bed. Don't know if you have a solution that convenient available though.

hmm. i guess i never noticed it cause i had my first iphone in the case 24/7. Never felt really hot on the outside.

What brand of case are you using?

I switched from my silicone case for exactly this reason. I found the phone was getting really warm not just when charging, but also during heavy use. I knew this would chew up my battery lifespan, so I elected to go with a hard clear case instead figuring the hard plastic wouldn't hold in heat as much. After about 8 days, it appears I was correct.

plus, the hard cases dont get all that skin crud stuck behind it, that enevitably gets stuck on the back of the phone.

i also hated trying to get my phone out of my pocket while sitting down, the silicone doesnt like to slide out without taking the rest of the pocket with it.
