In 10.9...

I have been unable to remove the Top Sites icon from Safari's (v7.0) Favorites Bar.

Is there some trick to doing so, or is this just not doable?

Ditto here, although for Safari 6.1 (7537.71), the update for Lion, et al.

Don't want, need, or like "Top Sites" in Favourites, but haven't discovered yet if it's possible to remove it.

Kudos to anyone with helpful leads re this

Not possible in Safari 7 yet.

I havent updated to 6.1 yet. So you saying it has same problem - option to turn off Top Sites icon is gone?

I've got too much porn going on there in Top Sites usually. That's distracting when I accidentally click this small button. All porn comes up! And I stop thinking of my work and disabled wife :-(

I feel your pain, bros.

Sorry I can't help, but I have the same gripe with "Top Sites". Don't like, want, need it. My previous version I was able to hide it in the 'favorites bar". (I'm running OSX 7.5 Lion.)

Also pissed off that I can't view my "History" in a sidebar anymore (with my web page on the right). And can't open a new tab with the bookmarks page coming up so I can choose where to go from there. Also, some of the options in "Reset Safari…" are now gone.

Some things they just seem to change for the sake of changing them…
