I'm planning on purchasing an iMac G4 1Ghz from a computer surplus store for $75, but it has some yellowing around the screen. How can I remove this? I'm planning on refurbing it an giving it to my sister so I want ti to look pretty good. Any ideas?
Yellowing on the plastic around the screen? G4 iMac's shouldn't be yellowing yet. It could have come from a smoker's home and that could be causing it. I suggest a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Those things do wonders on Apple products. If that doesn't clean it and you think the yellowing is caused by old age (unlikely) try using retr0bright on it.
I couldn't say what the yellowing is from, all I know is that the computer came from some sort of classroom, since this is a university surplus store. Once I get it, I'll post up shots of where it's at, but i'll be sure to get that magic eraser.
yess, ive seen the yellowing on Imacs.. but beware, its undearneath the clear bezel that sits around the lcd... i wasnt able to get it off/removed without farking it.
ended up selling the unit cos it annoyed me that it was yellowed..
You know what ended up happening, I went to go buy it yesterday, and it turned out they sold it a hour or 2 before. So I wasn't able to get it after all. Yea the yellowing on that thing was a nice amount, but i'll keep my eye out for one that isn't too much. Thanks
