Same fix as from Glasklart HD theme for forum icons (http://macthemes.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=16805129&p=1)
"To fix this navigate to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileIcons.framework/ and rename "AppIconMask@2x.png" to something else, such as "AppIconMask@2x-backup.png".

Yep, rename the file called WallpaperIconShadow@2x.png to something else in the same directory and shadow will be gone
they have sharp sedges like a square rather than the rounded soft edges that most icons have
Drives me up the wall as well - my glasklart theme looks awesome with vWallpaper on the background but squared icons are ugly. Need to get some free time to do some photoshoping of my 300 app icons that are not on the spreadsheet from macthemes...
