I have an issue I'm hoping someone can shed some light on. I have an older iPhone 5s my wife and I gave to our daughter. I was out of town when my wife went to ATT to get her phone number switched to the phone so I didn't have a chance to make sure the phone was wiped, etc etc. When setting up iMessage and FaceTime not only does my daughters number show up as available for use but so does my wife's. I know the issue is that both devices are using the same Apple ID (my daughter doesn't have one...yet) and she kept it that way so they could share music. My wife isn't tech savvy and thinks of all this as more of a hassle than anything else so she tends to take the path of least resistance.

Long story short: I'm curious if there is a way to remove my wife's number from that device completely while still using the same Apple ID or do I need to create a new Apple ID for my kid to make sure she can't use my wife's number for iMessage/facetime? Keep in mind my wife's number would still need to be available for her own phone.

I know we can just tick the unwanted number to OFF in both apps so it will default to the new number but that only prevents it's use until someone ticks it back on. We'd prefer it be gone forever because well, a 12 year old doesn't always need to read what her parents are saying to each other if you catch my drift.

Apologies for the long post. Any help is much appreciated!
