Removing a sound from a video

I have an avi and I have tried both VLC and QT, and it seems that it's soundtrack contains a very high pitched whine, quiet but very annoying, throughout.

I was wondering if anyone knew any apps that I could use to select this high pitch and remove it from the audio track?

You can try Amadeus Pro to filter out the high pitched whine once you extract the audio track.
