I recently upgraded to ilife 06 and installed all of the apps onto my hardrive. I don't really have the space though, and as i dont actually use garageband, i was wondering how to remove just it and all it's loops whatever.

Is there an easy way of doing this and would it actually save me all that much space?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Garageband specifically will free up TONS of space. Gigs. The best way is probably to do a Spotlight search, and delete everything that comes up.

Sounds well worth me removing it then.
I'll go with spotlight, and hopefully find everything and delete it if there isnt any one stage way.

Delete Garageband from the Applications folder and the Garageband Loops from the Application Support folder - it's about 2GB or so that you get back. You'll get another GB back if you don't use iDVD since the themes are pretty big there too - same deal as to locations.

Yeah, and just in case you don't know yet, apps' application support folders are in ~/Library/Application Support/*the app's name*/ (where ~ is your home folder)

thanks for the help.

I did as you suggested and removed the main app from the app window and then the garageband app support folder.

Then i spotlighted garageband, revealing an alarming amount of stuff and just went and got rid of it, seems to have freed a lot of space.

Thanks for the help

Also in /Library/Application Support/*the app's name*/.

(i.e., the main one, not just the home folder one)

Glad we could help! :) Out of curiosity, do you know exactly how much space you freed up?

i foolishly forgot to check how much space i had before i removed it so no.
But im 'feeling' that it has been almost 3 gig.
