Im trying to remove the back panel of my mid 2014 MBPr and aside from the 1.20 mm pentalobe screws being a change from the Philips head screws used on my last MBP and the battery being non removable everything looks the same. The panel on my last MBP just popped right off once the fasteners were removed but the new machine isn't doing the same.

The method ifixit shows seems simple enough (remove screws. Slide panel off from the front) however when I try to pull the panel up there seems to be some resistance. I'm not sure of the reason and I do t want to force anything so I thought I'd ask if anyone here has any experience with these newer macbook Pros.

Am I just being paranoid or is there something I'm missing?

There should be two clips in the centre of the back cover that attaches to two sockets in the upper case.
You just need to slide your fingers in near the vent and pull directly upwards. There are no cables or anything to worry about, but it can take some decent force to get the clips disengaged.

I was wondering what that does.
