Removing Backrounds in Keynote when printing

Hi all,
I've been using keynote for a while now and there's only one disadvantage i've found as of yet. I need to print out powerpoint files quite often and some of these have themes such as a stripe in the background or something similar. Does anyone know how to remove these when printing? i can get the colour to go but not these graphics. there driving me up the wall!!!
