Hi, could anyone please tell me why I can't delete a folder off my desktop please? It won't even let me rename it or anything. I have emptied the folder of it's contents into Finder so the folder is empty but I can't get rid of it. It says I don't have permission? How can this be?

Thanks
Mark

well if it says you don't have permission did you check info and see what permission settings where?

Did you read the whole article? It doesn't only address locked files.

Yes I read it all and tried the permissions thing earlier and it still won't delete.... I don't understand what is wrong?

GGJ's post should be all you need to figure out how to delete the folder. If it's not helping, then maybe you should provide more information, like how the folder came to be on your desktop and what is it for?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

No I can't get it to work off that.

Basically I downloaded a few tv series' of Dexter and created a folder on my desktop to put them in. I have now moved them to movies in Finder but cannot get rid of the empty folder on the desktop....

Right-click on the folder and "Get Info". Then look at "Sharing & Permissions" near the bottom of the window.

Tried that, it says I have custom access and read and write permissions. Still can't get rid of it.

Restart your computer?

I'm thinking this. Maybe try quitting/exiting out of your torrent app or whatever you used to download Dexter with. It might be keeping a hand on the folder as the download location.

Finally done it, my desktop was locked for some reason. I didn't realise you could do it, good way to learn Mac I suppose.

Thanks everybody for your help.
