Removing gaps between text box objects in Pages

How do you go about removing these gaps? I want to put the separate text boxes side by side. Other than combining into 1 text box is there another way to go about it?
If i put the objects too close to each other, the words in the above text box will disappear.

Also, I noticed that images also have that 'aura' of white gap that surrounds them. Is there a way to remove it?

Change the text inset to 0, and change text wrapping to 'None'.

Do you also happen to know how to remove this annoying insert page no. box? The prompt keeps hindering when I move my objects around the page.
