Removing Gmail account from Max OS Mail

I just bought my first MAC (MBP) and am very happy with the purchase.

My only problem right now is that I added a gmail account to the apple mail program, but forgot how much junk mail I get in the account. I want to remove the gmail accounfrom the mail program, but it won't let me delete it.

Any help would be appreciated!

Go to Preferences, Accounts then click on the Gmail account and hit the little minus (-) button at the bottom of the account list.

How have you tried to delete it?

Normally it is Preferences->Accounts->Select the GMail Account->Press the - symbol below
