Removing HD Movies on iPad

I need to make space on my iPad and I have a few HD movies on it that I can remove to free up space.

Question is: can I do this and if I want it back on, can I just sync with iTunes to get the HD version of the movie instead of the SD version that is downloaded on iTunes (automatically give me the HD version by default)?
I am worried about losing the HD format.

Sync your iPad normally to get any new purchases off of your iPad. Then, click the box in the sync options for the non-HD videos. If you turn off automatic syncing of videos, you can go in and manually select which ones you want on your iPad. To get the HD back, uncheck the box in sync options.
