Removing Marware wrist protector from '08 MBP

Hello, I have decided to sell my '08 MBP and I need help removing the wrist protector that I bought for it back when I got it. I started peeling it a little bit and I noticed it was leaving a sticky residue.

Anyone know a good way to remove it without damaging the MBP, I read about using rubbing alcohol but I'm still not sold on doing that.
