I recently purchased a new .mac account and with that I set up a new appleID for identification and purchasing on both the apple store and the iTUNES store. The thing is that prior to my new .mac and appleID I had set up a previous appleID for buying songs off of iTUNES. I want to get rid of the original appleID but I don't want to lose my purchase history. Most importantly is that I still want to be authorized to play my purchased music and videos etc. I'm not sure how exactly to go about this and I was wondering if anyone had any advice or were ever in the same situation. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I don't believe this is possible to do yourself. Maybe you can contact Apple and see if they will merge them for you.

Do you think going down to an Apple store rather than being on the phone for hours would be of any help, or would the people at the apple store be of no help in this type of situation?
