I'm having a problem removing the icon shown in the picture from my taskbar. I deleted/uninstalled the program that it was associated with, I've tried command and click but it wont go away... Any ideas on how to get this thing to go away?

The only effective method for complete app removal is manual deletion:
You don't need antivirus to protect your Mac. There has never been a virus in the wild that runs on Mac OS X. The handful of trojans that exist can be easily avoided with some education and common sense and care in what software you install:

Somehow I got a virus on my phone which then transferred to my mac... It was a "windows only" virus but Sophos would not ignore it and I couldn't find the file that it was contained in. I downloaded 2-3 other programs to see if they could isolate it further

Alright so it got rid of that little castle... I still have the little up and down arrows with red/green text.... How do I get rid of those? I can't click them to see what they are associated with and I can't drag them off.
