I did a clean install of Lion on my iMac yesterday, and today I noted these two jpg.files among the other normal ones in the Finder-favorite window. I can drag them around, but can't move them to another location and nothing happens when i right click on them. Is there some way to remove these?

Right clicking should give you an option to remove them. Are you trying from inside an application through the 'Open' panel or directly through the finder? I found that I could only remove things when using the finder directly.

I'm trying directly from inside Finder. It should work to right click and remove them, but nothing happens when I do. Really annoying :/

Now that I checked my Air, it's the same thing! Two pciture files, different ones, that doesn't show up when I search my computer for them, and are non-removable.
