Hey folks -
I'm posting this in the macOS section; it pertains to my Macbook Pro, but I think this is an OS-level question vs a hardware one. If the mods feel otherwise, go ahead and move it.
I have a new 2018 Macbook Pro, and with it I purchased 2 Caldigit TS3+ docks. The idea was to power 3 4K/60 displays on my desk in the office, along with wired GigE networking, full connection to my audio setup, etc. What I've found a bit confusing is knowing which device is connected to which dock from within the OS. It starts to matter when you're trying to play around with which sound output device to use, along with sound input device, etc.
To solve this, I was wondering if there's a way to rename the TBolt docks from the OS' perspective. That way I can say the "TB Dock Left" and "TB Dock Right". Then I'll know which is which. Is there a .plist file somewhere I might edit or something like that? Maybe a terminal command I can run?
Thanks!
