Renamed Internal harddrives not renamed on network

I have 4 internal hard drives in use on my macpro (10.6.8) and I recently copied the contents of Disk 2 over to Disk 4 because 4 has twice as much room as 2. I renamed the Disks (swapped the names) on my desktops the same way I would rename any folder and it showed up on the network (2 other macpros, 3 iMacs, and two Macbooks) correctly for one day. Once I restarted my computer for an update, the original Disk 2 went back to being "Disk 2" and Disk 4 (recently renamed "Disk 2") is now "Disk 2-1". Help! Disk Utility shows my disks named the way I want them and my boss is getting pissed!
