Just download the PC version of PODUTIL to backup some iPod music loaded from a different PC computer at school.
However, the name of the iPod at the very top of the PodUtil blue bar has the name "Frank", the original owner, and yet our iPod shows up as "David" in iTunes...
Where is the "Frank" still coming from ?
Can it only be changed during a format ?

An iPod's name is stored in a small file within the iPod's database structure. It appears that new versions of iTunes don't update the iPod's name in this file any more, and that's where the current version of PodUtil gets the iPod's name.

The name in the title bar of PodUtil is pulled from this old file
that is no longer in use. The name iTunes and PodUtil's playlist use is pulled from the music databse.

It's just a cosmetic glitch, and it will be fixed in the next version of PodUtil.

Open My Computer (disc mode has to be enabled) and see what name appears there. If it's Frank, rename the disc and that should do it. Me thinks!:(
