Ok so I have a multi boot environment... I am not using rEFIT just the standard mac os boot loader. I have 2 drives with multiple partitions. 2 Mac OS installations, 1 windows installation, and 3 recovery mode installations.

They are all named correctly and it displays correctly in mac os and the disk utility... however the names are incorrect on the boot loader window (option boot).

I remember there being a set of terminal commands that you can use to rename them on the bootloader but I have since lost the link to the instructions.

can anyone assist... right now its really frustrating because some of them have the same name.

come one nobody?? I know it is possible because I have done it before I just dont remember how. Let me explain what it looks like better

List of drives/partitions

this is what it looks like now

Finder and Disk Utility name -> name on efi boot menu

Macintosh SSD -> Macintosh HD
Windows SSD -> Windows
Recovery SSD -> Recovery HD
Macintosh HD -> Macintosh HD
Recovery HD -> Recovery HD

What I want it to be

Macintosh SSD -> Macintosh SSD
Windows SSD -> Windows SSD
Recovery SSD -> Recovery SSD
Macintosh HD -> Macintosh HD
Recovery HD -> Recovery HD

found the solution with the following terminal command

sudo bless --folder "volume_path" -label "volume_label"
