In Mountain Lion and previous, I could go into the bluetooth setting and click the cog to change the name of any of my paired bluetooth devices (specifically my magic mouse). However, now in Mavericks, I don't see any option to rename my mouse.. Is there something that i'm missing? Did the option to change the mouse name get deleted, or is it in a different place now?

Go to System Preferences | Mouse

Then hit Set up Bluetooth Mouse.

Then right click on your existing bluetooth mouse and hit rename. Hope this helps!

Edit: you can also right click in bluetooth preferences on the mouse too.
